Selected disciplines

The Work

Six disciplines. One standard of surface.

  • The Cabinet FinishNew cabinetry sprayed and block-sanded between coats in Italian 2K. Doors finished flat in the booth, boxes and frames to match.
  • The RefinishExisting cabinetry stripped or scuffed, corrected, and re-finished — color matched to whatever stays.
  • The MillworkDoors, paneling, trim, and built-ins, in the same system and sheen as the cabinetry beside them.
  • The High-GlossBuilt up, cut, and buffed by hand to mirror depth — 90 GU and above.
  • The Liquid Metal (Verometal®)Real metal sprayed in liquid form over virtually any surface, then patinated to order. Hoods, fireplaces, panels, furniture. See the material →
  • Shop & SiteSprayed in our immaculate Pflugerville booth, or on site with full containment, air scrubbers, and ducting that evacuates fumes rather than pushing them through the house. No trades impeded.

The coatings

The System

Italian industrial coatings, in any sheen you specify.

Houses

ICA·Renner·Milesi

Two-component polyurethane and acrylic, applied to manufacturer specification so the finish is warranted. Sheen to order — from 2 gloss, about as near dead flat as a finish comes, through satin and semi-gloss to 90 and above.

Chosen for chemical, abrasion, and mar resistance, and for a depth that conversion varnish and lacquer cannot hold.

Four movements

Process

Sixty percent of the hours happen before color.

1Samples, first and always. We listen until the design intent is understood, then iterate samples until one is right. Production begins when it is signed.≈ 5% of hours
2Preparation.Each grit sanded out to erase the scratches of the grit before it. Imperfections hunted under raking light, where they have nowhere to hide. Two-stage filler, glazing putty, and high-build primer beneath.≈ 60% of hours
3The coats.Applied to manufacturer specification, so the finish is warranted. Italian industrial wood coatings — chemical, abrasion, and mar resistance that conversion varnish and lacquer cannot reach.≈ 25% of hours
4Shop or site.In the shop, temperature, humidity, and other trades’ schedules are not a factor. On site: small footprint, close coordination, in and out without sacrificing the finish.≈ 10% of hours

The figures are indicative — every commission is quoted from its own samples.

By appointment

The Studio

A controlled room, where weather and other trades are not a factor.

The shop

Doors, boxes, panels, drawers, and furniture staged together — enough floor to hold three full kitchens at once. A semi-downdraft booth runs batches from five doors to over a hundred cabinet pieces.

The floor is climate controlled end to end, so temperature, humidity, and your site schedule stop being variables. Bring a sample, a door, or a set of plans — visits by appointment.
